Story and Plot
At the beginning of the story, Sam Bahadur is shown who is the legendary Army General and the first Field Marshal. His contribution in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 is shown. In this movie the major events and wars of his life have been explored.
Positive Review
This film is based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. How he worked hard for India while on the field and many highlighted events in his life have been focused on. Political angle has also been added. Research related to his life, political angle and work has been done with great effort. Sam’s confidence, status, body style, behaviour, way of speaking and getup have been shown in detail.
Vicky Kaushal played the role of Field marshal Sam Manekshaw. He seems to fit perfectly into this character. Vicky has led this show. The way he has carried this character is worthy of praise. The way Sam has been introduced is absolutely convincing. Because of this he gives the feeling of Sam. His conversation and dialogue delivery are very excellent.
Sanya Malhotra plays the role of Sam’s wife Silloo. Fatima Sana Sheikh has played the role of PM. Her work is good and she is convincing in this character.
The screenplay has been kept tight which is why it is engaging. No unnecessary political issue has been added. The environment and atmosphere of 1970 have been created which gives a real look. Hard work has been done in creating the costume and set design. War Situation has also been covered.
Negative Review
Storyline is good but it is not able to engage the audience in many moments. The war scene of the second half needs a little more detailing and exploration and the length of the action scene could have been increased. It is not able to create tension among the audience.
Technical Review
Director Meghna Gulzar’s work is brilliant which has been presented after doing a lot of in-depth research. She has shown balancing many issues. Production value and desingn are rich. Art and set design work is good. Music is decent. BGM has also been handled well. Cinematography by Jay I. Patel is decent. Color grading is okay. The makeup artist’s work is superb. Nitin Baid’s editing is good.
Sam Bahadur Movie: Conclusion
This is a biographical film in which Vicky Kaushal has played an important role. He has done brilliant work in this character. Sam Manekshaw’s life and Vicky’s acting are the highlight points in this film. It can be watched not only for entertainment purpose but also for the knowledge of history.
