Story and Plot
This story is about Kaala who is an aspiring rapper and singer. He comes to Punjab from Canada with the dream of becoming a singer. He learns that his father, a legendary singer Tara Singh, and his mother, Ravpreet Kaur, died due to gunshots during a performance. Will he be able to catch the murderer? Will he be able to know the reason behind the death? Will he be able to become a famous singer?
Positive Review
Kaala’s singing life journey is shown. When he comes to Punjab from Canada, he comes to know that the person living with him in Canada is not his original father. He comes to know about his real father and wants to know the reason for his father’s death. All these questions are answered in this series.
The story is very good but its execution could have been better. The pacing has been kept fast most of the time so that it does not feel boring. This is a musical thriller show in which music has been presented keeping it prior. There are many thrill moments and the music is also good.
You may like listening to the songs sung by MC Square. The placement of Rap Battle and Punjabi songs is good and made the atmosphere entertaining. The first angle is Kaala’s singing journey and second, he is searching for the murderer of his parents. Both these stories are running parallel.
The scenes of Punjab shown in it may seem authentic to a great extent. Detailing work has been done in body language and atmosphere creation. Along with music industry, business and political angles have also been added to it. Singer’s condition and life have been well presented.
Mukesh Chhabra’s work in terms of acting is fine and he adds comedy. BGM has worked to make the plot interesting.
Paramvir Singh Cheema has played the character of Kaala. He leads this show. He seems to fit perfectly in this character. Isha Talwar’s work in the role of Jazz is admirable. Manoj Pahwa’s work is superb. Apart from Mohit Malik and Gippy Garewal, the work of the entire cast is good.
Negative Review
The story and characters have been built up with great effort since the beginning and a banging climax was expected. But the biggest drawback is its climax scene which is the worst. This scene could not satisfy the emotion and feeling of the audience.
Climax part exploits the tension and thrill moment. The further story can be easily predicted in many parts. It could not maintain the suspense that well. The story beyond this will be discussed in the next season.
Technical Review
Director Rohit Jugraj’s work is decent. Its story is good but the climax is not convincing. This part requires good writing. Cinematography by Sandeep Yadav is good. BGM is very interesting and creates thrilling moments. Production value is good. Editing work is okay. Mukesh Chhabra’s casting work is excellent.
Chamak Webseries: Conclusion
This is a musical crime drama show in which Kaala’s dream and murder mystery are shown. Many scenes are very powerful which give a thrilling experience. The story is very interesting and engaging but at the end it feels like the climax has been placed forcibly. Some kiss scenes and some abusive words have been used.
