Story and Plot
At the beginning of the story, Mathew Devassy is shown who is a retired bank manager. His wife’s name is Omana Mathew. Mathew decides to contest for the local elections there. But suddenly his wife files a divorce petition to end their 20-year-long marriage. She claims that Mathew is a gay man. Because of which everyone gets shocked. Will Mathew be able to win the election? Will he be able to come out of this situation? Will Omana get a divorce? The answer to this will be found in the film.
Positive Review
This film has chosen a different topic and shown it. Selecting and showcasing a topic like homosexual marriage is commendable. This story is about two people who live their lives peacefully in a hill town. But there are many secrets in his bedroom which people do not know about.
In the beginning, the story is shown about the married life of a couple in which everything seems normal. But gradually twists are added to the plot so that the story can be made interesting. Through this, a social message has also been given to the society. Its story is simple but many heart touching moments can be felt in it.
Mammootty plays the character of Mathew Devassy. He has given good acting performance in this character. Even in this type of role, he seems to fit perfectly. Jyothika has played the role of Mathew’s wife Omana Mathew. her performance is decent.
Negative Review
Its screenplay may seem a little slow paced. Political points are also added. Dubbing quality in other languages may seem low. If it was released on OTT platform then larger audience could have watched it.
Entertainment factor may seem missing in many parts due to which it is not able to capture the audience and may feel stretchy in many moments.
Technical Review
Jeo Baby’s work in direction is good. But he could have made it more interesting. Its writers are Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria. He selected a different topic, narrated it and presented a beautiful relation.
Cinematography by Salu K. Thomas is okay. His presentation is decent. The music by Mathews Pulickan is decent. Production value is low.
Kaathal The Core: Conclusion
This is a drama film in which the relationship problems of a couple are shown. This problem is very different from that of a normal couple. Its pacing may seem a bit slow due to which some boring moments can be felt. The story is not very ordinary but it is engaging.
