Mission Raniganj: Story and Plot
This story starts from West Bengal in 1989. A coalfield is shown where many laborers are working in night shift. One night, when the laborers were doing their work, an explosion occurred. The stagnant water in the upper layer of that coalfield starts coming into the coalfield. Due to which there is chaos among the workers. Laborers are alerted to come out but many laborers do not receive this alert message. Because of this they have to face floods.
About 65 miners get trapped there. The next day when this news becomes known to everyone, then the entry is of Jaswant Singh. Rescuing those miners is the most challenging task. Now will Jaswant be able to rescue those miners? How much difficulties will they have to face? Now what will happen to those miners will be known only after watching the movie.
Positive Review
This is a real life event based film. Jaswant’s courageous and heroic work is shown. This is a survival thriller film. How miners risk their lives to extract minerals. The problem of trapped labor inside the coalmine has been highlighted. How will they survive in the flood? Rescue Team executes every step with great intelligence. The focus has also been on the emotional feeling and hope of the miners’ families.
Akshay Kumar has played the character of Jaswant Singh. His dialogue delivery is good. There is inspirational and motivational touch in those dialogues. Most of the credit goes to Akshay in making the audience emotional. His character presentation is very impactful. The theme of the movie is dark due to which an environment of fear and pain has been created. A social message has also been given through this film. Kumud Mishra and Pavan Malhotra have given their best as supporting actors.
In one scene, Ravi Kisan suddenly jokes after getting angry. His acting performance is reflected in this scene. Parineeti Chopra has played the role of Nirdosh Kaur Gill. Her acting and screen presence have been kept limited. Maturity is visible in the chemistry of Akshay and Parineeti. Climax portion is very emotional due to which tears may come in the eyes. People do not have much knowledge about Coalmine but an attempt has been made to give information to the people through this film. Many twists and turns are seen which make the plot strong.
Negative Review
The presentation is good which makes it easy to understand the story. The hype of this film is very less. Parineeti’s performance is limited. 1st half could have been made better. The development and build up of the character has been done in a short time. Visual effects are good at many places and do not help the story at many places. In the 2nd half the plot comes back on its track with momentum which makes the story exciting.
Technical Review
Deepak Kingrani’s dialogue is well written. Work can be done in marketing so that curiosity increases to watch this film and know the story. The work of its writer is fine. The story has been introduced by Deepak Kingrani and Poonam Gill. Flood has been shown to be very dangerous which looks good. Cinematographer Aseem Mishra’s work is fine.
It has been directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. His work is okay. This story could have been made dangerous at that level as it is dangerous and scary. An experience of that level could not be created. Editor Aarif Sheikh has done his work well. Production Value is okay. Its producers are Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Jackky Bhagnani and Ajay Kapoor.
Mission Raniganj Review: Conclusion
In the end, the photo of Real Jaswant Singh is shown which increases respect for him. This film can be watched by connecting not with the mind but with the heart. A thriller can be felt in the first half and the curiosity to know Jaswant’s next plan and step increases. Emotions have been introduced in a creative way but the technical aspects are weak at some moments.
