Story and Plot

This is the story of Deva who lives a simple life with her mother. But the peace in his life is disrupted when the life of Aadhya, the daughter of a US-based businessman, who is newly arrived in the city, is put in danger by goons. When he started searching about this gang, he came to know that this planning was of his best friend Varadharaja Mannar. Due to some reason, Deva and Varadharaja had to break their childhood friendship and separate. Why did Aadhya come to that city? Will Deva be able to save Aadhya from this danger? Why is Aadhya’s life in danger? Due to which reason both of them had to break their friendship.

Positive Review

This story follows the journey of two friends. The political condition of Khansaar city has deteriorated and a fight is going on for politics. This is a massy cinema and Prashanth Neel’s direction style can be seen. Its BGM is very loud. Its themes are dark which give thrilling moments in some parts.

The story has been built up in the first half which is engaging and impactful. Friendship bond is also added. The special bond between mother and son builds a strong connection. The story is simple but its screenplay has been well captured and is very engaging. Interval and climax scenes create excitement.

Prabhas has played the character of Deva aka Salaar. He leads this movie and his action sequels are very outstanding. Not only is his acting performance superb but at the same time his body style, dialogue delivery and fight scenes are amazing. The elevating scenes have been well designed for them.

Prithviraj Sukumaran has played the role of Vardharaja. His performance is commendable. Shruti Hassan delivers a decent performance as Aadhya. The entire cast has performed well in acting. The BGM is very interesting which contributes to the plot and makes some scenes exciting.

Negative Review

The story is well narrated in the 1st half but needs improvement in the 2nd half. There is action and violence in it but there could have been more hard core action scenes as well. In this part the focus is only on Prabhas. There are many good and experienced supporting cast but they are given less screen space.

The character of Prithviraj Sukumaran could have been made stronger. The song is simple and could have been made better. It feels lengthy in some portions of the second half. In this part the excitement is at a lower level.

Technical Review

Director Prashanth Neel’s work is very good. He has placed his idea in a very creative way. Good narration of the story and screenplay has been handled well. He has tried to show even the simplest scenes in a very powerful way.

The work of Music by Ravi Basrur is impressive. His score made some scenes very engaging. Ujwal Kulkarni’s work on editing is good but the editing of some scenes in the second half could have been improved. Cinematography work by Bhuvan Gowda is satisfactory and many good scenes are seen. Production values are very rich.

Salaar Review: Conclusion

Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire is an action thriller film in which Deva saves a girl from danger. The acting performances of Prabhas, Prithviraj and Shruthi Haasan are best. Many good stunts and action scenes are seen. The story has been built up in the first half which has many gripping moments. But the screenplay and narration could have been improved in the second half. This is a good option to see Salaar during weekends.
