Will he be able to remove darkness from this village? Are his daughter and wife in danger? The answer to this will be found in the series only.
Positive Review
Devil, ghost, fight scene and body pieces are shown in the first 3 episodes. All these scenes look engaging. There are many new things which are very new and unique. Choosing and showing such a unique topic is a positive point. The first episode is very engaging and curiosity increases to know the further story. People who like watching violence may like this series.
Arya has portrayed the character of Dr.Gautham Subramanian. He has led this show. His acting performance in this is decent. Divya Pillai plays the role of Gautham’s wife Neha. She has performed her best acting performance. The work of supporting actor is also good.
The story has been presented in a fascinating way. The speed of the plot is fast pacing. Monsters look scary in many moments. Dubbing quality in other languages is decent. Can be enjoyed in brutality and action scenes.
Negative Review
After 3 episodes, the level of engagement goes down. Because its ending could have been presented in a better way. Many unnecessary points have been added to its story like superstition. Why mutant-like creatures are shown in it and the backstory of these creatures may not seem that convincing. Because of this, there may be a disconnect feeling from this series after the 4th episode. There may be a stretchy feel in the last episode.
In most parts of this series, night shoots are shown but it is revealed that with the help of VFX, day scenes have been converted into night scenes. CGI has also been used but its quality may seem low. For example, the quality in the Tunnel Tsunami scene is not that good. To present such a subject, along with the hard work of the director, good production value is also required.
The story is ok but the storytelling, narration and presentation could have been better. That family is facing a bad situation but tension is not created at that moment. The thrilling moment may not seem that impressive.
Technical Review
Director Milind Rau chose a good topic but the execution could have been a little better. His work in this is decent. The writers are Deepthi Govindarajan, Milind Rau and Deeraj Vaidy. They could have developed the character better.
Cinematographer Sivakumar Vijayan has done a fine job. Music by Girish Gopalakrishnan is good. BGM enhances the thrilling experience. Editing work of Lawrence Kishore is okay. Production value is also okay.
The Village Webseries: Conclusion
This is an adaptation of a novel and an A rated series. It may take about 4 to 5 hours to watch this show completely. Some abusive words have been used in this. The engaging and entertaining level may feel less after the 1st episode. The intense thriller and tension scenes are not that effective. The concept is good but the exploration and execution could have been better. Overall, this series can be enjoyed watching over the weekend.
